F&H was established in August 1999 with the merger of Forest Engineering and Holmach Machine Tools, both long standing class leading machine tool suppliers in South Africa. Forest Engineering was formed in 1950 as a machine tool distributor. It was later purchased by the AngloVaal group in 1969 and by the Amhold group of companies in 1992, which saw it amalgamated with Green & Sons to form Grefor Machines (Pty) Ltd. It was at this stage the name Green & Sons was dropped as the company ventured purely into the Hi-tech machine tool market.
Today F&H is positioned as a major supplier in South Africa’s machine tool industry. In 2011 F&H became part of Forge Group, a major leading importer and value-add distributor of industrial and commercial products.
At the core of our business ethic is the belief that:
- Emphasis should be placed on quality rather than price
- Service excellence is essential to any transaction
- Honesty and fair dealings are paramount to foster long-term partnerships with our customers
Our strong after-sales service teams distinguish F&H in the local machine tool market, keeping us abreast of the latest global and local trends (with added support from our brand partners). Further, we boast a number of in-house CNC application specialists and programmers to ensure service excellence. Our support teams are all OEM trained and certified.
Since our deep technical knowledge is a source of pride and our trademark of distinction, we are serious about training. This includes hands-on experience and training at our principals’ training academies, which empowers our world class team to assist customers with all production and machining challenges.
Our Gauteng-based showroom is a modern display of the more popular ranges of conventional and CNC machines. Customers are not only able to see the latest technology but also have machines demonstrated by our technical experts. Our spares inventory and service capability are further showcased.
